It's Wet!

Water, water everywhere...
But not a drop to drink.

So goes the well-worn jingle
To help us remember that
Salt water, which comprises
Most of the water on Earth
Is not potable, drinkable, etc.

All dinosaur spit in the end...
Recycling at its finest
Except maybe for our
Food chain topper

Illness breeding in wet places.
One child dying from
Waterborn disease every
Eight seconds.

Boy, does the southern hemisphere
Currently get hit harder
Than seems fair.
Lucky for northeners, BUT...
Things always change

Supposedly the two main
Aspects of global urgency,
Not counting from outside
Our atmosphere

Are global warming and water shortage.
What do you think about the drink?

I remember a cartoon I saw
Of Nancy and Sluggo (remember them?)
When I was very young.
It made such a strong impression on me,
Which has lasted lo' these many years.

Nancy can't go out to play for many days
As it's raining on and on, so she makes a
Wish that it never rain again.

Consequences are many and varied.
