Song to the Sea Turtle

Efforts to protect and rescue
Precious sea life
Are being pushed aside and stunted
Causing heartache and strife

These graceful, sentient beings
Have the right to live
They're burned alive to clear 'the mess'
Engendered by a corporation
Without any care to give.

It makes me sick to heart and bones
To hear their urgent travails
How will this be answered when
A reconciliation comes?
Karma asks its mighty question:
Returning the lesson's clarity in tens.

It didn't have to be this way
The price didn't have to grow too large to pay

Only sighs and tears now dwell
Floating on the swells
Tears where turtles ought to be
In a still-magnificent 'wild' sea.

I realize this offers nothing productive nor helpful. I have to admit that I am in shock - though I'd think by now I wouldn't be with all that's happened... - and hope some path to help out emerges in my brain. I am at a loss, and that is helpful to no one. But as a friend said, tears can clear the way and keep connection alive. Then comes the striving. For the moment all I can think to be doing is to send my blessings to the many souls now moving on and changing forms in what seems to be a most horrendous way. The ground is shifting; I can feel it.
