loved this! M and I saw the original at Central Cinema last fall... first time for me. Glad it was on a big screen -- Hitch was a spooky genius
Thanks for the comment, Kathryn, and for checking in! I'm glad you got to see it on big screen too. I did when a wee lass, and it scared me silly! So it's particularly enjoyable to see the man with the purple peeps instead of eyes for a change. And you're right about Hitchcock.... Even his TV show rocked most of the time... Who do you think is the closest inheritor of his role in cinema history working today? I'd be most curious to hear your answer....
I honestly don't know -- I tend not to see suspense films any more, except the classics. Who do you think?
It's a really tough question to have asked, as there flat-out is no Alfred Hitchcock on the scene today. Period. Genius like that (of a very specific niche/sort...and all the support team that makes it possible!) only comes along every so often. I have, however, given the question entirely too much time and thought - especially since I posed it to other(s), so here's my best take at the moment. A combination of Christopher Nolan (I'm thinking 'Memento' period here... and M. Night Shyamalan at his eerie best. Not a perfect fit, by any stretch of the imagination... ;)
