What To Do?

I have been reading, hearing, & talking
And thinking...
About health care reform issues for days
And weeks - longer, much longer & before
It seemed possible in this country.

I looked for the specific wording of this
Quote and found the closest to what
I remember at this link:
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_said_A_society_is_measured_by_how_it_treats_its_weakest_members

<"This has been stated in several ways for over 100 years
by various indiviuals, including (but not limited to)
Churchill, Pope John Paul II, Dostoyevsky, Truman, etc.

Very recently by Cardinal Roger Mahony (1998):

"Any society, any nation, is judged on the basis of how it treats its weakest members ;
the last, the least, the littlest."

And perhaps most dubiously attributed to Ghandi:

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged
by the way its animals are treated. "

The original author of this quotation seems to have been lost.">

There is a very short book by the title of:
"Two Old Women," which you can find at
any of your local or distant book sellers.

It's a story that has really stayed with me
These many years... a fable  in truth.

What does a tribe,
Thinking of us itself as having
Integrity do with these two grouchy,
Critical, irritating old women when food
Goes scarce?

For a long time?

There's so much to consider in it...
Thought 'seemingly' simple enough;
And in just a few pages, this book
Paints quite the picture of what

Possibly....
Can and turns out to be repercussions
Of their particular decision.

I highly recommend it for these days
Of debate about this issue of basic needs.
