As Inner, So Outer

> This is a clip from the opening of a series of films Marie-Louise von Franz made in 1985 with her student, the Canadian filmmaker Fraser Boa. In it she explains her understanding of the subconscious and dreaming.

In the whole series there are 20 films in which Von Franz tackles different topics in response to issues raised in filmed interviews with the public. These fall into 4 sections:

Introduction to Archetypal Symbolism:

Men's Dreams:

Women's Dreams:

Relationships & End of Life issues.

Additionally there are 5 commentaries by Fraser Boa's brother, the analytical psychologist Marion Woodman, who has produced these published DVDs, in which she expands & clarifies certain concepts in the films.

The boxed set of 4 DVDs is available from http://www.wayofthedream.com/index.html? For a discussion forum featuring Von Franz's ideas see http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vonfranz/

"Nonetheless, the subconscious mind is the director till you rewrite the scripts. Put some effort into getting it working on your positive, conscious intentions instead of your old limiting, unconscious beliefs and your life will change. "     Marie-Louis von Franz

The part that really fascinates me about this quote - though the rest is her regular brand of thoughtful insight - is the word, "Nonethess." From whence that comes, I wonder.

I dream.

Hard to Type Night and let Keith Moon Do It for Me As I Wish I Could!

I am so so so happy I was able to see The Who while Moon was alive. I know there is a lot of debate about who are the best drummers, but in my experience he was- natural, flamboyant - all he had he put into it... totally, impeccably, beautifully. I could not take my eyes off him for nary a second.... though 3 of 4 were amazing... truly amazing. It made me temporarily loony too.

Sleep well. Sweet dreams, lovely loon moon.

Update After Nap

"Nap with Teddy" by Hart

Had a nap. Works wonders though I hate to succumb to sleep.

Doing better, though definitely still sick.

No chills. Radio.

Can hardly type though.... I like to have full use of my fangers! (creative spelling on porpoise)

Kansas Has a Beautiful Face - No Really

"Wheat, Kansas" by Everett Johnson

Just want you to see how lovely. Imagine it completely covered in ice several inches thick.

The wheat really does wave about like a grainy sea. It is multi-colored, like the 'amber wave of grain.' In motion and with a purplish tint.

I really loved Kansas much more than I thought I would. In fact, I would recommend it as a driving destination, just not in winter.

If you really like to drive....! Destination Unknown...

Slippin and a'Sliding Away

I was driving across Kansas in a VW van. Return trip of the 'Painted Desert' story earlier. It was a ferocious ice storm, but I had it down. I locked my arms in and managed to glide along the straight and narrow highway like I was above the sheet of it. There was a feeling of glory in it, as if I was some magical driver with the elements at my command.

Went about a hundred miles before I spun out, circled around, and hit the railing. Guess they are really truly there for a reason; I'm thankful that one was in that place.

Problem was it was one of those drive someone else's car operations to get their car to them - cool deal; they might still have them if you need to go somewhere near or far and don't want to put the miles on or lack a vehicle altogether.

We pulled over; I got out of the car to survey the damage (not much, thankfully), but unfortunately slipped with my first step and really whacked my bottom. :) We very careful managed to get the van to the side of the road, and even more carefully walked down the ramp to the VERY nearby exit and to a handy diner, holding each other up all the while.

Everyone was stuck there. It was packed with people looking out the window and door to see when they could leave. It was many many many hours later. Boooooorrrinnng! But no where else to go. Amused ourselves with 20 questions and similarly silly stunts.

Finally we had enough. To heck with it, and off we went with nary an incident more!

Kansas is beautiful like you wouldn't believe, by the way.

I suppose I'll feel compelled to tell the 'nary' story later....

Scared Sick

I am so sick today, in a most unusual way.

All my skin and muscles are painful, even if I don't touch them.

I've never felt this way ever.

No symptoms of you-know-what, but plenty different ones.

I feel scared. Don't know why I'm taking the energy to write this.

Maybe so you know I will be back and you can check again tomorrow.

I'd like that.

Brrrrrr.....
