Say Goodbye to Winter; Belatedly; What Can I Say: A Bit Behind ;)

Amid the many storms this winter;
Peace and a white/pink glow
Were much appreciated by folk of the river.

And now, the daffodils, the roses starting up... the lotus spikes in the watery shallows
All will change.
All will grow.

Each season has its beauties.
I wave backward to the snow and the sleet.
The peace and the quiet, so special and insulated.

Four seasons, more or less... officially only?
No, still in force.
For now.
For now.
The times, they ARE a 'changing.

Sunday's Song

I prefer to think the story's
Always just beginning...
However in order to begin,
Something ends
The way of things is wild
And a matter of holding
Opposing polar points together
In one's mind at the same time...
Or I could have it all wrong
Always the distinct possibility...
Probability? Must set out thinking so.

Have a merry sunny Sunday!
If you so desire and the world
Conspires.  ;)

Significance

"Oblique View of Victoria Crater"

What's worthy of note is worthy of song
And dance and breath and thrashing about
To take it on - go through rather than around is a
Difficult mess of pain at times, but intensely its opposite as well.
With one, you get the other.... so shy not away.
For tomorrow IS a brand new day
And so much can be seen if eyes are open and say
The truth, what's processed, what's clear and what's not
Sometimes it will turn Eurydice back at the mouth of Hades
Sometimes it will shine in your eyes like the golden hour on Mars

Triple Set

It's March 27, 2010
It's come around again...
Earth, Fire, Air, Water
All dance to celebrate
The three dear birthdays on this random day
Come together somehow in different years
And into my life, grateful beyond words.
I raise my glass and sing a happy tune
To love and friends and life long cycles
That build from one to the next and on into life beyond.
Happiest of Birthdays, beautiful trio of humans I adore
May you have peace and joy and contentment evermore.

Three legends for my three lights true....
Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack White perform...
"In My Time of Dying,"
Flip side: Life! To Life!

Pinocchio and The Odyssey

Pinocchio's Donkey and Circe's Pigs

Well, you tell me?
How many stories are there at root?
Different clothing; different characters,
Same message?
Trying to listen to what might be told...
Over and over and over again.

One Eye Is Closed

Jill Marie Art

"You look so tired.
Will you please lie down?"
Miles to go before I sleep
Things to do; promises to keep
Borrowed from another, the human condition
Share it and pass it around
It's necessary and happens whether you're up
Or feeling down.
Passing out now; days between proper sleep.
It's proper and it's impossible to go deep
When awake, it takes the cake and I don't
Want to give in, though one eye's long been shut.
I still have the other, tho it sees only the blurriest
Of panoramas. What to do; to say; to be?
Not a blue blue clue.

Lavender-Flavored Nostrils

What can I tell you about this gentle habit?
It's clean and sanitary.OR. Sean and clanitary.
Take your pick.
Applicator dabbed across sensitive tendrils
Painting the olfactory world with
tiny purplish invisibilities
Sent out as microscopic bubbles bearing tiny flecks
Of precious fluid essence.
Relaxing, uplifting, refreshing, a vision in scent.
Minimum of two bottles; one for back-up
For if ever
I traveled, there I must  have one to
Offer royal purple to life as both memory
And sacrifice, to the monarchs who dwell
Within sacred destinations of heart, nerve, bone, gristle,
Sprite and spirit, Light and color flash
To live by.
To rest by.
To take the world inside, with a deep night hue
And a long, stunning lash of beauty in a bottle.
How do I open this
tricksy cap again?

Ah - here's the cover:

Fare-thee-well, Alex Chilton; Ciao for Now, for Now.

I heard that Alex Chilton had passed yesterday.
All day long, I found myself singing 'The Letter.'
He was 59 years old, which only makes sense as
He was younger than 16 starting out with that soulful voice.

I wish him safe passage and journey.
Can't wait to see what he does next time.

Why is it, Alex Chilton, that your songs make
Me sound like I have a halfway decent singing voice?

Another song that does magic for my voice like you did is that
Mysteriously authored, oft-covered ballad,
"The House of the Rising Sun."

After you singing "The Letter" when you were in your youth,
There will be several renditions of that tune.
Perhaps you'd approve of the 'new dawn' aspect.

The sun has finally come up to put to rest
At long last this sleepless night.
I suppose it'll be another day of singing
In the deeper register that seems to suit so well...
Thanks for that gift. In return - sustenance and fair winds, prithee.

And now, a string of "House of the Rising Sun versions
You can take your pick and....
Strum'n SING along...

Above, Eric Burdon, another amazing voice so young from who knows where?

Below, The Ventures - see what 3 guitars and a surfer sensibility will get you?

Below, Frijid Pink ~ representing the spirit of the song in this
Unfortunately poor video ~ I'm believing that they, like others here, know whereof they speak.

So many more, including The Doors (with amazing organ often associated with some sort of
"Original Version" ~ it's an old song, folks, thought to have originated in England as a folk song...),
Bob Dylan, Leadbelly, Odetta, Joan Baez, Spongebob even... but I'll end with
Woody Guthrie...
