Sometimes Things Go Like That

I remember my 7th birthday
My best friend was Joyce.
Also there was Bobbie, Fawn,
And..... it was a long time ago.
???
Forgive me.

"Daydream Believer" had just come out
And was number 1 on all the AM stations.

We danced like 7 year-olds, free and swirly.
Dressed up in party attire, with
Crinoline under our finery

And played games of imagination.
I remember that I got to be
Cleopatra in one of the enactments.
I really didn't know how to play
That part adequately.

Except for laying sideways
On a couch and receiving
Devoted citizens and pilgrims.

I believed myself to be on a
Boat, floating down the Niles,
Or some gentle tributary.

Though I already knew some
Things about slavery, I never
Connected the two til now.

All lives have some devotion to
Death.

Whether it's visiting loved ones
Once they've passed on,
Or building monuments that would live
On for thousands of years after,
Or for working on one's own garden,

Day by day, Moment by moment
Growing readier to accept change.
Change of moment
Of breath,
Of form,
Of experience.

Self-explanatory:

Super Heroes

I don't know how anyone can attempt
Or aspire or desire
To be President of a country
At any time in history...

NOW seems hard.

Impossible without some
Other folks pitching in too
Know what I mean?

One person cannot do it alone.
So everyone who can is part
Of the work that needs to be done.

No two person's contributions
Will be exactly the same.

Generosity, compassion, gratitude.

This One's For....

J.D. because he loves this
Lemon Jelly song.
And for me, because I love drawing

And miss it
Being at a whole different level
Hand-wise
At the moment

Took a class in the basement of the
UW Bookstore
Pen and Ink.

It can be done
Even by me.

Plus: colors aside -
[And I do love them,
Don't get me  wrong...]

Black and white is just cool.

While we're  on the subject
of Arts & Crafts.

Bohemian Heroes Wall

It's amazing what a change in light can do.
Of all the painting in this clip, the change
In lighting makes the most impact on the
Colors and shapes.

Three lighting classes in college:
One each for
Stage, screen, and TV

Lighting for stage is the most
Like painting.
Television was the hardest;
Change one mm., and you're DONE.

Trading Places - No Place to Trade ;)

Something about this clip
Really intrigued me
Then part of my mind
Perked up and said,
'It's disrespectful.'

And I shied away.

But I found myself coming back.
To watch it again and again.

In doing so, I was reminded....

Humor doesn't seem disrespectful
If it brings cheer and
A pureness of light

Or even a new way of
Understanding something
You thought you knew.

Who manipulates the other
In the dual puppetry,
And is there even
A duality in the first place
In the compelling dance,
Really?

Even when it's 'comical?'

Portland Kinda Folk

Portland, Oregon, The Rose City

Referring to the last video clip...
It captures something about the
Vibe of the city, I think.

I remember dancing in a
Circle there sometimes

Spending hours sitting
In Powell's bookstore

I saw a beautiful soul
Born nearby....
And she thrived

In that place

With all her special
Naturally given talents.

Bicycles, Progressive Style,
Blase, Optimistic, Organic
Food, Options

So many memories.
I'll have to add via comment
Later, I guess...

Complaining Doesn't Help

But it sucks not to be able to post
Nor have stable fingers,
But you do what you do with
What you have.

I just wanted to check in
So I don't disappear
From this world that helps me
Feel connected to the outside.

Yello to all the people.
Something  to enjoy
At least...
I hope.
