There is an intense lightning storm
Outside our basin of a homestead
Right now. it woke me up;
Raging head and body ache
Already in full progress.
It's flashing on a regular basis
So bright and magical in a way,
Yet primal and scary as well,
Some part of it affecting my
Headache in its own unusual
Manner; reaching right inside
My own body as if it was made
Of air...
On an energy level,
I believe it just might be.
The video clip was taken on
August 18, 2009...
We got that storm too...
It's a combination of video footage
And slowed down to the feeling
Of stills as well... in Manhattan, NYC
Wish I'd clipped the cats' nails earlier
Today, as they're freaking out, ripping
At everything - fully extended
Retractable claws in their semi-fear...
I was 12 when this version of the
Classic song made a wave,
Crossing the line into heavy rotation.Beautiful, talented, noble Joan Baez
Sings it in her usual honest fashion
Heartfelt and true.I was in Puerto Rico, living on the
Beach for the summer.
Kissed for the first time, and I think
This was the song that was playing
At that milestone moment... ;)It meant something deeper than
Usual, even then... but since then
I've grown more and more interested
In the tragedy that was the Civil War.So many issues; so many points of view.So many wounds still to heal
It feels to me. I hope we ALL get past out heartbreaks
Soon.
There are a number of things
I love about this clip, but more
Than any: the stop motion, the
Morphing, the brilliant comics I've
Always loved, the Hungarian music
Which speaks to my double helix
From some unknown life or time...It's that everything DOES turn into
Everything else, especially given
Enough time and the right pair
Of glasses to really see the patterns
That reappear like fractals
Microscopic and astronomic.Enjoy! To Life!
I like this clip but I couldn't tell you why.
Or how it melds with the symbol of the
Ourboris, the dragon or snake that eats
Its own tail
Forming a never ending cycle
Of destruction and renewal and
Eternity, like many other symbols
That point that way.I've seen that symbol when I close my
Eyes, as many as any other one or time.
Perhaps.....?
And I'm sure it'll not soon be
Forgotten in that neck of the woods.
Or plains... or fields..We get to have these pinpointed
Moments in time when things
Just come together NOWOf course Woodstock was one of those
With a regularly re-arising theme of
Peace and music.
I was born just a couple/few
Years too late to attend...
But radiant waves continued
To flow out of that gathering
And so many others,Similarly-natured...
...At that time.
As long as humans exist on this plane
It will arise again and again...
An enzyme; a catalyst...Timing is all - and effort, true.
Maybe, just maybe we can
Tip the balance and come through it.... And it actually seems possible
To pull it off - to get everyone
Working together, being supportive
Compassionate, Accepting, Ready.Celebrate the high road in us.Here are a few clips you've seen,
Most likely... but in one place.
Varying quality... pick what you want.Richie Havens' amazing opening
Of the Festival... my personal favorite.
Jimi Hendrix's, "Voodoo Child."
Arlo Guthrie's, "Coming Into Los Angeles"
Jefferson Airplane's, "White Rabbit"
***N.S. and I were in charge of university
Entertainment that first year as I
Have mentioned earlier in these posts. We were able to pick all the movies
That we liked best to watch once
Or twice a day and thrice on Sundays. One of the more memorable times was
When we rolled the reels of film
Woodstock; watched it every single
Time from the front row center...Whatever it is going to be,
I'll try the newer generational
Take on a depiction...But how great to have the actual
Footage on tape to
Come together with.Sing out loud in your
Anywhere.... place.
***Here is the trailer for Ang Lee's
Summer film based on the
Experience. We'll see - I'll go at least once
And check it out.
No more front row for me though.
;)
I have been reading, hearing, & talking
And thinking...
About health care reform issues for days
And weeks - longer, much longer & before
It seemed possible in this country. I looked for the specific wording of this
Quote and found the closest to what
I remember at this link:
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_said_A_society_is_measured_by_how_it_treats_its_weakest_members
<"This has been stated in several ways for over 100 years
by various indiviuals, including (but not limited to)
Churchill, Pope John Paul II, Dostoyevsky, Truman, etc.
Very recently by Cardinal Roger Mahony (1998):
"Any society, any nation, is judged on the basis of how it treats its weakest members ;
the last, the least, the littlest."
And perhaps most dubiously attributed to Ghandi:
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged
by the way its animals are treated. "
The original author of this quotation seems to have been lost.">
"Two Old Women," which you can find at
any of your local or distant book sellers. It's a story that has really stayed with me
These many years... a fable in truth. What does a tribe,
Thinking of us itself as having
Integrity do with these two grouchy,
Critical, irritating old women when food
Goes scarce? For a long time? There's so much to consider in it...
Thought 'seemingly' simple enough;
And in just a few pages, this book
Paints quite the picture of what Possibly....
Can and turns out to be repercussions
Of their particular decision.I highly recommend it for these days
Of debate about this issue of basic needs.
My grandmother always used to say
Once it's July, the summer's over. Now it's August, and it still
Seems to be here...But I understand her feeling,
Having gone round the seasonal
Cycle for so many years. Here are some beautiful pictures from
Round the world, of people enjoying
That ephemeral thing known as
Summer.The photographs are pristine -
You can see that for yourself.
I just couldn't help enticing you
With a few of the many samples
To be found on the link below.Myself, I was always afraid to dive
Into water, anyway.
Silly, really.

I was reminded of moving to the
Pacific Northwest and the first time
I visited Mt. Rainier, a forest environ -
And saw huge trees.Immediately a memory came to my
Mind and whole body...Cautiously walking quietly
And moving strangely behing
The trees for coverI KNEW I had been someone else
There, with those trees
In an earlier time. The present slipped away
And I was me, but different.
Wary, relational to the forest
Knowing alternate things
And having alternate skills.Maybe that's why I was
Drawn there for some
Unknown reason from the
East coast, and stayed to visit
Many Mt. Rainier environs
For the next 22 years.
So much in life's evolution
Seems to be about moving
Our way of thinking from
Strict Duality and Dominanceto Continuums and BalanceThere are times when the former
Earlier brain arrangement
Is necessary and importantBut crucial to know when
If we want to move forward
I think.Don't watch the following clip
By The Dead Weather if you're
Sensitive.I am, and it was hard for me.I don't appreciate it, necessarily...
But there's something fascinating
In the formulation for me.Confronting a problem straight out -
Why do we choose violence.
The initial idea is good,But move it along the continuum.Else we'll all be microbial food
In the end.
And not just our bodies as is
Intended.Any why is that a problem again?
Remember. Think hard.
There are different messages
In all three of our brains:
Reptilian, Mammalian, HumanReconciliation. It's hard to watch, so again with
The warning. Just brings out a point;
Not recommended for home use!
So much is still about parenting: Hardest
Job in the world.... still lurks in our mind
All these years, decades. centuries later.
I find it very interesting: the
Enlivening effect that the
Combination of still photos...
A single moment in time eachHas when put together.Like life but somehow different. This is an example.
